Cuenca rises voluptuously with imposing walls, those who could not stop the hunger of its inhabitants to the Christian siege of nine months in 1177. The mosque turned into a cathedral, the Romanesque into Gothic, and this way, Cuenca has become World Heritage city by its so remarkable churches and monuments that are up for the greater glory of the Christian God.
A visit to Cuenca could start in its Plaza Mayor, closed by the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Gracia, the City Hall, the Convento de las Petras and numerous examples of civil architecture. Going down towards the bottom of the old town, we go across the three arches that support the City Hall. From there, we leave towards the Plaza de la Merced, with its baroque cover. The tour continues to the Torre de Mangana, raised in a square in which stood the Jewish Quarter and what was Cuenca’s synagogue.
